NPower the Future

Join the 40 by 22 movement to help young women of color advance in technology

While the tech industry booms, the presence of women, particularly women of color, in IT roles has steadily declined. NPower, with the support of Citi Foundation, is on a mission to #NPowerTheFuture and help more young women of color advance in tech careers.

40 by 22 Initiative

In order to transform and diversify the industry, we need to identify and help address barriers to careers for women in technology. We recognize that the work starts at home--in our classrooms.

NPower is embarking on our most extensive mission to date through the 40 by 22 initiative

  • We aim to increase our program enrollment of young women to 40% by 2022 in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Missouri and California.
  • We also aim to increase representation of female instructors to mirror our student goal of 40% by the end of 2020 in all the markets we serve.
We also want to evoke widespread change in the industry by starting conversations within the tech community.

Join our NPower the Future campaign

Starting September 2018, NPower is spearheading Women in Tech Wednesday (#WITWednesday). On each and every Wednesday we will share articles, stories and videos on remarkable women in tech, key issues that affect gender inequalities and lack of diversity in IT and other topics we hope will inspire conversations and change.

We invite you to join us on this mission to catalyze change for the better in the tech industry by TAKING ACTION! What can you do?

  • Like and share our posts to your audience: show others you support this cause.
  • Join the conversation: add to the discussion by commenting on our posts.
  • Contribute your own story as a woman in technology: the most impactful thing you can do is lead by example.
