BACKGROUND

NPower is a national nonprofit that provides IT services and training to nonprofits and young adults. We accomplish this by harnessing the power of technology and the support of socially responsible companies and corporate IT volunteers. NPower’s services are delivered through three programs- The Community Corps, Technology Service Corps (“TSC”) and IT Professional Services. Our community of corporate partners, nonprofits, foundations, dedicated staff and skilled volunteers provides NPower with unparalleled reach that allows us to have a profound impact on thousands of local communities and hundreds of young adults.

NPower operates an innovative and very successful workforce development program, Technology Service Corps, which engages young adults to invest in their future by experiencing hands-on technology training (help desk, troubleshooting, networking, & web development), professional training, and a technology internship, while simultaneously benefiting the community at large. The students also prepare for an A+ Certification. TSC serves underserved 18-25 year olds who are rediscovering their potential. These are talented young adults who are prepared to transform their own lives, their community, and society by harnessing their intellect and hard work through technology.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide ongoing job development services to TSC Alumni. The Job Developer helps TSC participants to find and retain full-time and part-time employment opportunities. Oversees Workforce Team and projects. Manages, identifies, coordinates, and evaluates employment opportunities for TSC Alumni.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Alumni Placement/ Relationship / Business Development Activities

  • Developing employment opportunities that match participants’ skills, work experience and interests.
  • Manage and develop relationships with current and prospective employers.
  • Market staffing services to the workforce community.
  • Prospecting/cold calling and face-to-face meetings with employers.
  • Manage and coordinate career club for alumni who are seeking employment, including providing resume and cover letter assistance, job leads, and goal setting for job search and career development.
  • Consistently meet monthly placement goals.
  • Responsible for workforce development statistical reports. Must be consistently and accurately documenting, in real time, all participant and employer contact, activities and outcomes into Salesforce case management system.
  • Work with members of workforce development team to meet team goals. (includes supervising workforce projects assigned to Internship Coordinator and Alumni Coordinator)
  • Market participant population in order to generate 3 interviews for every 1 placement per week.
  • Establish at least 5 new employer relationships per quarter.
  • Professional development training – including scheduling/delivering module training, harnessing guest lecturers (internal & external) for training modules, scheduling and attending company site visits, providing appropriate follow up, and refine curriculum where needed.
  • Assist graduates to retain employment, grow within employment, and obtain promotions in employment.
  • Stay current on trends in the job market and economy.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

At minimum one of the following must be met:

  • a two-year degree,
  • a four-year college degree,
  • or at least three years job development experience.
  • or at least two years of human development experience.
