BACKGROUND
NPower is a national nonprofit that provides IT services and training to nonprofits and young adults. We accomplish this by harnessing the power of technology and the support of socially responsible companies and corporate IT volunteers. NPower’s services are delivered through three programs- The Community Corps, Technology Service Corps (“TSC”) and IT Professional Services. Our community of corporate partners, nonprofits, foundations, dedicated staff and skilled volunteers provides NPower with unparalleled reach that allows us to have a profound impact on thousands of local communities and hundreds of young adults.
NPower operates an innovative and very successful workforce development program, Technology Service Corps, which engages young adults to invest in their future by experiencing hands-on technology training (help desk, troubleshooting, networking, & web development), professional training, and a technology internship, while simultaneously benefiting the community at large. The students also prepare for an A+ Certification. TSC serves underserved 18-25 year olds who are rediscovering their potential. These are talented young adults who are prepared to transform their own lives, their community, and society by harnessing their intellect and hard work through technology.
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to research workforce development trends through developing and implementing analyses, metrics, and models in accordance with best practices; and with determining how to translate that data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising/ program development strategies and measures of success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research and Data analytical reporting
- Responsible for workforce development statistical reports for management, the board of directors, funders and third party evaluators.
- Prepare graphs, charts (link analysis, event flow analysis, activity charting), tables and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.
- Research workforce development trends and new city expansion data.
- Work with the development team on grants and other funding opportunities.
- Survey, track and analyze program participants.
- Support all existing client/server, database, and excel spreadsheet applications used by the TSC Program to support quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Create new applications/modifications, in cooperation and consultation with the IT department to meet future needs of the TSC Program.
- Ensure that all reporting requirements of the TSC Program are met in a timely fashion. Train existing staff on how to create reports where appropriate.
- Ensure that all reporting is done accurately.
- Provide data and reporting as requested by TSC program staff and senior management.
- Ensure the integrity of all databases supported by the TSC Program.
- Serve as a resource to other staff on what is available to support TSC Program projects and management information needs. Analyze their needs and provide the data that they require if possible.
- Periodically assess our current data structures and recommend changes and improvements based on the needs of the organization and the Program. Implement those changes and work with other staff / contractors as appropriate.
- Keep abreast of current trends in database design, programming and software solutions that would be relevant to the needs of the TSC Program.
- Support the TSC Program in whatever capacity is requested and work on special projects as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
At minimum one of the following must be met:
- A two-year degree.
- A four-year college degree.
- Must have experience in data management and a grounding in advanced qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience required with a variety of analytical and database software including SQL, Excel, Access, statistical analysis and forecasting programs (e.g. Tableau, SAS, SPSS), and presentation software.
- Direct experience in marketing, business and/or development operations, providing high-level data analysis, administrative oversight, coordination, and advice preferred.
- Additional working knowledge of information systems and development revenue cycle preferred.

- Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Able to create Databases, Macros, VBA scripts, pivot tables, etc
- Needs to be able to translate user’s needs into database, spreadsheet and reporting solutions.
Skills Required:
- Salesforce database management.
- Utilizing Salesforce to generate various reports for NPower staff and funders.
