Ali Marano

Director, Skilled Volunteer Portal

Ali began with NPower as a pro bono resource from Accenture in August of 2000. In the fall of 2000, she helped to design the organization's structure and outline the services that NPower would offer to New York City's nonprofit community. Ali soon recognized that the work she was doing for NPower was too important to be handled on a part-time basis. She decided to leave the private sector knowing the impact her full-time efforts could realize at NPower.

Prior to joining NPower, Ali focused on Organization Design and Human Performance projects at Accenture. In addition, she led the Accenture Community Service team. The team organized community projects where Accenture employees could volunteer their time to help make a positive impact in New York City. Ali has also worked in the television industry producing documentaries on various social issues.

Ali serves on the Board of Global Nomads Group, an international NGO that creates interactive educational programs for students about global issues.  In addition, Ali is a graduate of the fellowship program Leadership New York. Leadership New York is sponsored by Coro, a national organization that brings a commitment to developing and training individuals interested in public affairs and civic leadership. Leadership New York is a ten-month program using Coro's model of experiential learning to give participants an insider's view of the complex issues facing the city.

Ali is also a graduate of the inaugural class of the American Express Nonprofit Leadership Academy.  The Academy brought together 24 leaders from nonprofits around the country to participate in a program designed by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL).  The Academy featured sessions with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Charles Rangel and American Express Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth I. Chenault.

Ali holds a B.A. in Spanish and International Business from the University of Buffalo. In addition, she attended the Univerity of Seville in Spain where she focused on International Business and Cultural studies.

Ali and her husband live in New York City with their two sons.
