Izumi Berat

Izumi is Program Manager at NPower NY. He joined in 2011 after a year away from work to travel and volunteer in India and Nepal. He holds a Msc in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Telecommunications, from Lyon, France. He has a wide technical background, having worked in various technological areas (electronic circuit and CAD design, Telecom Navigation Systems, software development integrating GPS and video surveys, e-commerce and point of sale systems) in New Zealand, Japan and Europe. He is trilingual in English, French and Japanese, and conversant in Spanish.

He and his wife Emma love New York’s rich multicultural life. Outside work, he enjoys playing squash, running, volunteering in the community and spending time with his wife and two cats. He is a team leader for New York Cares projects.
