Sonia Karkare

Prior to Npower NY, Sonia Karkare co-founded Ankore Works in 2004, a business and technical consulting firm that provided services in IT solution project management, business analysis and requirements gathering, information architecture, software product analysis and offshore consulting advisory services. It was during this time that Ankore Works worked extensively with NpowerNY on several different engagements related to criminal justice system, youth development and health care.

Prior to Ankore Works, Sonia was a project manager at Bowne Enterprise Solutions â€" an organization that provides digital solutions for financial printing. She helped Bowne successfully deliver one of its largest projects at the time; a custom digital solution for 401 K printing for Merrill Lynch.

Sonia also worked at Sapient Corporation, a reputed IT consulting firm from 1996-2002, where she played several different roles, ranging from senior engineer, information architect and finally, project manager. She has rich experience in the software development lifecycle, having been on projects within various sectors including investment banking, pharmaceutical, and telecommunications.

Sonia has an M.S. magna cum laude in Computer Science from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude, also from Kent State University. She has volunteered with several organizations in the city including Sakhi, an organization for victims of domestic violence in the South Asian community and NYCares more recently. She loves reading, watching movies and performing Indian classical dance.
