Cando started with nonprofit technology in 1997 with the Educational Alliance, a social services nonprofit on New York City's lower east side, as an intern supporting PC users.
At the same time he was taking courses in Advanced IT Networking at New York University’s School for Continuing Education. After securing a permanent position with the Education Alliance, Cando quickly moved into Network Administration of a Novell/Windows NT network.
Cando has taken the full Microsoft certification track for Windows NT MCSE, Windows 2000 MCSE and Windows 2003 Active Directory. Along with those courses he has also taken courses in Citrix Metaframe Administration, Cisco Certified Administration, and Novell 4.1 Administration. He holds certifications in Novell Administration and Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory.
In 2001, Cando accepted a positino as Network Manager with The International Rescue Committe, an NGO providing international refugee relief and development. He led the migration of their NDS, Lotus Groupwise email system to a multi-site one domain model Microsoft Active Directory with Exchange 2000 email.
In his spare time he likes to play with computers, disco roller skate, bowl and watch movies.
