The free tech training program, NPower, has announced its event, “Rising Up: Propelling Career Growth & Wage Equity,” to help women of color claim their space in tech and provide strategies to advance their careers and pay–supported by Citi Foundation.
NPower, the free technology training nonprofit announces a technology collaboration with Zoom Video Communications, Inc. to help supply the next generation of tech talent with its powerful video-first unified communications platform.
Stand Together invested $600,000 in NPower to support expansion into new markets, pilot new training programs, and strengthen existing programming.
The nonprofit tech skills training program, NPower, is organizing the gala that will honor IBM and Citi for their work, contribution and dedication to bringing more ethnic and gender diversity to high tech industries.
NPower will specifically be honoring Ginni Rometty, Chairman, President and CEO of IBM, and Don Callahan, the Head of Operations & Technology for Citi, for their leadership in promoting diversity in technology, advocating for more women, minorities and nontraditional talent.
Atrion Communication Resources (ATRION) has announced the hiring of their first NPower IT Generalist Apprentice, Jennifer Quinones, an Army veteran, as one of their Cyber Security Specialists.

This forward-thinking apprenticeship model will expand the talent pool for much needed IT jobs around the state of New Jersey while also empowering veterans and young adults with the skills and credentials they need to start or enhance their careers,” said Bea Tassot, Executive Director of NPower New Jersey.
The NPower NJ program, taking place in Jersey City, offers qualified students free tuition for its signature Tech Fundamentals program, which includes 15 weeks of half-day in-class instruction followed by a seven-week paid internship. NPower provides a holistic approach to its IT training, including soft skills, corporate mentoring, career counseling, lifelong alumni support, guest lectures and site visits. The apprenticeship will be offered after completing and graduating from the NPower program with on-the-job work experience and ongoing support through NPower’s Online Training Management System.
NPower, a national nonprofit providing free technology training and job placement assistance, announces the launch of a large-scale partnership with the US Department of Labor (US DOL), Office of Apprenticeship and the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE), officially recognizing NPower St. Louis as a registered Apprenticeship Trainer for Information Technology (IT) Generalist Apprenticeships. This designation is the first of its kind for Missouri and follows the IT Generalist Apprenticeship programs previously introduced by NPower in New Jersey, California and Texas, and places St. Louis among the first cities in the nation to offer this type of apprenticeship.
The Citi Foundation has awarded NPower with a $1.5 million grant to fund the Advancing Young Women in Tech Careers Initiative (also known as “40 by 22”), which seeks to expand NPower’s enrollment of young women of color into their programming, equipping them with the technology skills needed to prosper in the digital economy. The program will benefit young women in New York City, New York, Jersey City, New Jersey, Baltimore, and St. Louis, Missouri.
Today, NPower, a leading national nonprofit that launches IT careers for veterans and young adults from underserved communities, is thrilled to announce the reopening of its free 22-week IT Job Training Program in East Harlem, NY. At NPower’s ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. ET, Dana Stepp, Program Manager for Education Solutions, HP Inc., Mara Wald, District Manager for Corporate and Global Sales, HP Inc., Tony DeLisio of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Luke Chilone of TD Ameritrade, Balaji Ganapathy of Tata Consultancy Services and NPower leadership will address NPower’s 39th cohort of local young adults, who will be placed in IT jobs in New York in less than six months. Former New York City Mayor, David L. Dinkins will also be in attendance.
